Youth Invest

Raise your hand if you were made to feel invisible and your contributions were disregarded at an important meeting. Zimbabwe’s youth are made to feel this way every day. The youth constitute 67% of the country’s population. Despite their skills and dynamism, the youth have limited access to social and economic participation, thus, leaving them with informal and unregulated work. This marginalization perpetuates poverty within households and kills the youth’s dreams.

At Youth Invest we are promoting the youth’s participation in Zimbabwe’s micro and macro-social and economic development.
We mobilize the youth to develop their entrepreneurship and civic participation skills, as well as, to enhance their financial inclusion. Also, we equip the youth on policy advocacy so they can speak truth to power. We connect the youth to local, regional, and international networks to enhance their access to opportunities.

To date, Youth Invest has lobbied and advocated for the financial inclusion of over 1 000 youth in Bulawayo and its surrounding peri-urban areas of Lupane and Bulilima. We have a fully-fledged e-training and networking platform which has benefitted over 180 millennials. We have established a physical and online hub for craft operators in Victoria Falls to enhance their sales and market reach through leveraging digital technologies. We have received funding from the United States Embassy. In 2018 we were awarded the Excellence in Community Youth Empowerment by the Corporate Social Responsibility Network of Zimbabwe. We have been featured in Zimbabwe’s National Television, Good Morning Zimbabwe news bulletin.

Our team comprises the Founding Director who has worked voluntarily for over three years to see the youth thrive. In addition to her educational background in Criminology and Psychology, she has amassed eight years’ experience in youth development, civic participation, and entrepreneurship. She works with a team of six volunteers who work for the social good of Zimbabwe. We have board members and patrons who offer advice and mentorship to the team.
